Cardi B is finally back in the Grammy conversation in a big way. After years of waiting, her sophomore album Am I The Drama? dropped on September 19, 2025 through Atlantic Records, and she’s already submitted it for some of the biggest categories at the 2027 Grammys.

The album itself is up for Album of the Year and Best Rap Album. That’s a strong statement. It’s been seven years since her debut Invasion of Privacy cleaned up in 2019, and the gap was long enough that people started wondering if she’d ever follow it up. She did, and she brought some heavy hitters with her. Janet Jackson and Megan Thee Stallion both show up on the project, which already makes the tracklist feel stacked.

A few singles are also in the running. “Errtime” is the one getting the widest push. It’s submitted for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Song. That’s the full-court press. “Safe,” her collab with Kehlani, is up for Best Melodic Rap Performance. And “Pick It Up,” the one with Selena Gomez, is aiming for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Those two features alone show she’s still moving between worlds without forcing it.

Nominations won’t be announced until November 16, 2026, and the ceremony itself is set for February 7, 2027 in Los Angeles. So there’s still time for the campaign to heat up, but the submissions are already public and people are talking.

What’s interesting is how straightforward this feels compared to some of the over-engineered rollouts we’ve seen lately. Cardi just put the album out, let the records do the work, and then quietly submitted the ones that actually have a shot. No long manifesto, no endless teaser campaign. Just the music and the paperwork.

Whether she walks away with any of these remains to be seen. The competition in those major categories is always brutal. But after the long wait, it’s clear she’s not treating this as a comeback story. She’s treating it like she’s still in the middle of her run. And right now, the numbers and the submissions say the industry is paying attention again.
