Paul Yandoh showed up at a baby christening and turned a family event into one of the more unexpected political moments in Ashanti lately.

The former NPP Ashanti Regional Communications Director walked into the ceremony for Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene’s newborn son at PIWC Asokwa. The two men have traded a few light public jabs in the past, so seeing Yandoh there caught people off guard. Instead of tension, the room gave them a warm welcome. They shook hands, smiled, and treated each other like people who know each other beyond the party labels.

Social media picked it up quickly. Comments like “Politics can sometimes be beautiful” and “This is how politics should be” started circulating. For a lot of observers, the moment felt rare—two politicians from opposite sides showing up for a personal milestone without turning it into a campaign stop or a photo-op for points.

It doesn’t erase the usual rivalries, but it did put a different face on Ashanti politics for a day. A christening is supposed to be about family. For a few hours, that part stayed front and center while the party colours took a back seat. People noticed, and they liked what they saw.
