The Ghanaian entertainment scene is in shock today. Veteran actor, comedian and broadcaster Seth Kwame Dzokoto has died at the age of 51. He collapsed during a live morning discussion on Owass Radio in Tarkwa on Thursday, 22 October 2026, and was pronounced dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.
Dzokoto had driven himself to the studio and joined the panel on the Oman Nkosuo programme. Shortly after the show began around 8:45 a.m., colleagues noticed he was unwell. The broadcast was cut short and he was rushed for medical help, but it was too late.
Many Ghanaians will forever remember him as Judge Koboo, the sharp-tongued, larger-than-life character on the long-running TV3 sitcom Efiewura. His comic timing and memorable lines made him a household name. Beyond acting, he hosted the popular food show Edziban, taking viewers into local chop bars and celebrating Ghanaian cuisine. He also worked as a voice-over artist, comedian and radio personality, and was a known figure in NDC politics, having contested the Tarkwa-Nsuaem parliamentary seat in 2016.
In recent months Dzokoto had spoken openly about his health struggles with high blood pressure and diabetes. He had undergone heart surgery abroad with support from well-wishers and had publicly dismissed circulating rumours about his condition in September.
Colleagues and fans have described him as a versatile and warm personality who brought humour and energy wherever he went. His contribution to popularising everyday Ghanaian food culture through television left a lasting mark.
As tributes continue to pour in, the industry and his many admirers are left remembering the man who made so many of us laugh for years. Rest well, Judge Koboo.
