Cardi B Spotted Filming Cameo in Teyana Taylor’s Directorial Debut “Get Lite”

Cardi B just hopped on set for a quick cameo in Teyana Taylor’s first feature as a director, the Paramount dance drama Get Lite. Photos circulating online show the Bronx rapper on location in New York this week, looking right at home while cameras rolled.

The project follows a talented but sheltered dance student (played by former NFL cornerback Ceyair Wright) who discovers inspiration, love, and a chosen family through the high-energy Litefeet scene in the city’s subways. Storm Reid stars opposite him as the young woman who pulls him into that world. The ensemble already includes Nia Long, Leslie Odom Jr., Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Jodie Turner-Smith, and others. Production is underway in New York, with a wide theatrical release planned for August 20, 2027.

Taylor, fresh off her awards-season run for One Battle After Another, is directing from a screenplay by Maurice Williams (based on an earlier Black List script). She knows the culture—she’s a Harlem native who grew up around movement and music—so the film feels personal. Bringing Cardi in for even a brief appearance tracks. The two have linked up before, and Cardi’s larger-than-life presence fits a story rooted in New York energy.

Fans are already hyped at the crossover. No official word yet on what Cardi’s playing, but the set photos alone have people talking. Get Lite is shaping up as one of those projects that feels like a celebration of Black creativity and NYC street culture. Expect more updates as filming continues.
