Nicki Minaj Turned Giga Texas Into Gag City This Weekend

Austin got a serious dose of Barbie energy over the weekend.

Nicki Minaj showed up at Tesla’s Giga Texas on October 10 for the X Takeover and basically took the whole thing over. The Barbz were already in town early, throwing Nicki Night parties, hanging by the pool, doing pink nails, the whole vibe. By Saturday it felt less like a tech event and more like a fan takeover with cars in the background.

The actual event ran from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nicki did a spotlight conversation. Maye Musk was there in person. Elon popped up virtually. Franz von Holzhausen from Tesla design was on the bill too. There were product demos, exhibits, Cybertrucks on display, and a drone light show at night. Somehow the tech crowd and the Barbz mixed without it feeling forced.

Nicki rolled up in a custom pink-and-black “Gag City” Cybertruck and the place lost it. She talked about creativity, building a brand, and tech. One clip that’s been going around has her saying Grok made her feel like she was “cheating in life.” She also used the mic to talk about what’s happening to Christians in Nigeria and asked more celebrities to speak up about it.

It was a weird, fun mix. Tesla community event on paper, full-on Nicki moment in reality. By the time the drones lit up the sky, nobody was pretending it was just another factory open house. For one day Giga Texas was Gag City, and the timeline loved every second of it.
